New to blonde's backyard will be my pincushions, a girl can never have too many pincushions in my opinion, one in sewing room, one in the lounge, one hanging off the sewing machine and a ring on my finger for the ease of taking pins out, whilst trying to sew around frogs legs.....more on the frogs legs another time. ...
These are approx 10-11cm, fully stuffed and boy does your hand ache holding the threads tight trying to make it evenly puffy!
Hope you like them and add a bit of sunshine to your day.

I HEART YOU........

Not quite an engagement ring........
I couldn't let Valentines Day pass without making something with hearts in mind, and the fact that I am also involved with a heart swap (not that any of these will be of use to my heart swap buddy as she is a jewellery maker using resin!), I know others are also involved in heart swaps , and these are created in the style of the Alice in Wonderland heart swap. The buttons are 22mm and the rings, well what can I say other than they are rings with felt brought from Lily Whites shop on folksy.

I have been very naughty today, and somehow managed to buy all of the above fabrics off Etsy, from downshadowlane and not just Fat Quarts either! 1/2 Yard lengths, Oops. They were calling my name....honest.
But I do have some ideas for them along with using ickle pieces for pincushion rings, although if I used them for pincushion rings alone, I would end up with lets say quite a few.............

I also brought these lovelies from averilpam for my Mum, she has a red pair which must have lasted around 20 years (since the 80's!) but managed to loose one at mine over Christmas, and she was gutted, so Pam is sending them straight to her with a little gift card, hopefully see with see them on Saturday as a nice surprise.

Which then got me thinking, I don't own any red earrings, and wouldn't they look lovely with my red Mary Jane shoes......(they really will, you have to believe me...) so then I found these beauties in cinnamonjewellery she has some wonderful pieces and great wire workings going on (its all in the detail!). She has a sale on some items and free delivery, but I am getting VIP treatment, because mine are being hand delivered! (She lives not far...).
So I get to see mine tomorrow when I get home from work, yippee.

Don't be shy olive........

There you are! Hello Olive

It's what's inside that counts......

Made with love...

Add a spot of retro 70's toweling fabric, felt, pink bias binding and cute tiny french floral fabric.
And Olive the Owl Tea Cosy is born..... I had a small dilemma as my tea cosies are normally called Ollie the Owl but after seeing her sit there, I didn't think it right to call her a him!

I have been hording retro & vintage bark cloth for a while, looking for inspiration on what to use them for, and mixing them with other fabrics and my own bias bindings and buttons.
Geeky with a bit of cuteness thrown in! (hopefully).
You will find the buttons and bindings in BLONDESBACKYARD

Some newly uploaded ring pincushions from blondesbackyard.
I am getting a little obsessed with matching or rather clashing felt and fabric together!
Every time I see a scrap of fabric worthy of a ring, I then pull out the felt and sit and stare at the colours!

These massive 21" cushion covers are a custom order. In London Bus red, with a green & pink POW!, yellow and purple BAM! in felt. And zip closures along the bottom.
Felt from Paperfish on Folksy.
I think they look quite striking, and I love the size, they are going on a sofa, but they are almost floor cushions, which would also look good on the floor of a kids bedroom or even the lounge floor!

Well I have managed to be very lazy over the holidays, but am now back to the sewing machine, this weekend I made up this 16" cushion using Alexander Henry fabric from my stash, and am going to make a smaller 10" one in red, as I have left over fabric from 2 custom superhero cushions I am in the procese of making.... Pictures to follow soon.
